Right, so here's the deal, I get a text from our womens team saying that they had already won 5-0 against glasgow international (bit of a gubbing by all accounts set one to 6 and set three to 10) and we hadn't even set off to Kilmarnock to take on the division 2 leaders... then I get a call from Monsieur Welsh telling me that the posts at St Joseph's had collapsed 'cos barney had put a wee bit too much tension on it and that we'd have to hang fire until a new venue was found... I tell you, Monsieur Welsh must have the gift of the gab, 10 minutes later and Mearns Castle had been secured as new venue... sat navs primed and the boys travelling from falkirk had time to visit uncle ronald.
Off we skelped down the M8 and made it to Mearns Castle with only three recalculations from the Garmin. Fife were playing Kilmarnock I and true to form Kilmarnock did the damage in 3 sets. Start of set 3 call goes out to the Falkirk boys... er there's been a crash on the M8, we're moving pretty slow, but we'll get there. Final whistle goes in Killie v Fife, the M80 contingent roll into the hall... we're ready to go.
Captains called, into gear, 15 minutes till over the net. Now, I could ramble on about how crap our serve receive was in the first set and believe me it was but let's just say it wasn't pretty and Kilmarnock should put me at the top of the Xmas card list for gifting them about 8 points. Needless to say we lost the first set (25-19). Into the second set with a slightly more positive head on (I'd managed to take my head outta my rear and discovered that passing the ball is not that difficult)... Set 2, we were down we were up, in the lead, behind but eventually found the groove and took it 25-21. OOO OOOH, set 3, one set all, same heads on once again and lo and behold we traded points until the sticky bit and pulled ahead.... 2-1 to us. A few twitchy bits going into set 4 but the boys were up for winning and put a 5 point gap into the equation Killie did come back at us but we were always in front and pushed thru to win the set 25-17. Not often I say this, but, good job guys. well done. and if anyone wants to play middle next week - the position is yours. Result: Kilmarnock II 2-3 Pentland NUVOC (25-19, 21-25, 21-25, 17-25, 17-15). The winning squad: Grizzly, Beanie, Buddha, Arnie, Scott, Fingles, Slav

Good to see that you are getting more realistic on the points given away in first set - especially after only claiming 6 during the time-out
More interesting was the trip back home through Airdrie and Bathgate due to traffic problems on M8 - nearly killed a monster sized alsatian that decided it had right of way on the main road, through deepest darkest Blackridge. (think League of Gentlemen)
Great results for both teams over the weekend, potential for play-offs looming - maybe the season won't end on 6th March after all.
"Kilmarnock II did not get such a good start to the New Year however, as they went down 3-2 to Pentland NUVOC losing their first league match since November 2008"
That was the absolute minimum required for the 2nd half. Remember we lost to two teams we've still to play (Dundee, Bellshill), and ran tight against Polonia...so no getting carried away.
And Scottie, your kneepads are henceforth banned from my car, even in the boot...
I'm saving the sick here
20 crunches
20 obliques
20 press ups (knees down)
Plank for 45secs-1 minute (knees down)
30 simple squat to calf raise (slow)
30 tricep dips (your pace)
rest 1 minute, do set three times thru.
